Joumana Atara is a senior Industrial Engineering student minoring in Business Management at the Lebanese American University. Before moving to Lebanon in 2008, she spent 10 years growing up in Africa (Kinshasa, Congo) as an American National. She has been part of LAU’s simulation programs for two consecutive years. The reason why she chose to be part of the simulation families is her passion to serve and positively impact her community. She discovered this passion during the summer of 2016 where she worked as an English & Mathematics teacher at a local public school in partnership with UNRWA. The students were both Syrian and Palestinian refugees. She went on to joining the Simulation programs the following year as a School Relations Coordinator for the 13th GC LAU MUN program. Then in the academic year of 2018-2019 she served as a School Relations Coordinator for the 3rd LAU MEU program. She also took part of the GCI MUN Middle School Conference in March 2019 as a Conference Services Coordinator. Moreover she has been highly focused on exploring her field of study by partaking in several internships for the past three years. She interned as a production engineer at Gandour in Beirut during my first summer as a university student. The summer after that she interned for Gemayel Freres s.a.l in Bikfaya with the procurement department. Her latest professional experience was as an Organization Development and Business Transformation intern at Byblos Bank in Beirut.
